Missouri Southern Healthcare provides two separate programs to assist diabetics and their caregivers manage their disease and reach their health-related goals. Together with your physician, MSH educates diabetics on diet, exercise, foot care, medications, and other subjects. The two components of the diabetes self-management program include:

Diabetes Support Group: Free of charge, this program allows diabetes and caregivers an opportunity to share their experiences, concerns and techniques for successful daily living with this life-altering disease. Each month, the group welcomes a different guest speaker to present on one aspect of diabetes care. The support group meets the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The sessions take place in the hospital boardroom.

Diabetes Education Program: With your doctor's prescription, a diabetic can attend one of these informative classes. Classes held the first Thursday of each month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided for the patient and a caregiver. The class will focus on a customized program for each patient. Class size is limited and a nominal fee will be charged.

For more information about the diabetes support group or the education program, contact Judy Pedigo, R.N., F.N.P. at 573.568.3686.
