Missouri Southern Healthcare named Business of the Year

Missouri Southern Healthcare was named Business of the Year by the Dexter Chamber of Commerce at its annual awards banquet on February 28. MSH was recognized for the many contributions made to the community in the last year, including the addition of four new doctors, three clinics and thirty employees. MSH also provided athletic physicals to 355 Middle School and High School students from across the county, experienced a 100% growth in inpatient admissions and OR surgeries and made over $250,000 in capital improvements. A new sleep lab and cardiac rehabilitation unit was also added. MSH supports more than 20 community philanthropic initiatives, including the Golden Angel program that provides Christmas presents for nursing home patients without family. As Dexter's third largest employer and Stoddard County's fourth largest, MSH continues to impact the community in a great way.

Diabetes Support Group

On the first Monday of each month, MSH host a support group for diabetics, their caregivers and anyone interested in learning more about the disease. Self-management goals, successes, challenges, questions and experiences are discussed. Certified Diabetic Educator, Judy Pedigo, R.N., M.S.N., F.N.P. facilitates the discussion and each month a different guest speaker and topic is introduced. The cost is free and the meetings are open to the public.

Diabetes Education

Regardless if you have been newly diagnosed or have had diabetes for years, this class is a must-have for any diabetic. The program requires a doctor's prescription and charges a nominal fee. MSH offers these six-hour courses the first Thursday of each month. A variety of experts will lead discussions on nutrition, exercise, diabetes medicines, foot care, eye care and establishing self-management goals.
